#SDCC15: Hannibal Says Farewell with a New Trailer and Possibility of a Film

So, “Hannibal” took its final (for now) bow Saturday night at the San Diego Comic-Con, where, despite cancelling the show, NBC was kind enough to give us our first look at the Red Dragon storyline.  Richard Armitage portrays Francis Dolarhyde, aka the Red Dragon, Will Graham’s new nemesis after a three-year time jump.

Guest stars still to come include Rutina Wesley (“True Blood”) as Reba, and Nina Arianda (The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby) as Will’s new wife, Molly.

You can check out the new trailer below, but first here are a few highlights from the “Hannibal” panel via ScreenCrush:

  • Exec producer/showrunner Bryan Fuller explained that Amazon was interested in producing a fourth season, but they wanted scripts to be done and filming to take place more quickly than in the time frame Fuller needed to do them justice. On the bright side, Fuller said, “We’re looking at the possibility of a feature,” particularly after co-stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen have had some time off to explore their careers and regroup.
  • He described his approach to “Hannibal” as one third Thomas Harris’ original material, one third genuine psychology, and one third their own “special sauce” of whatever’s going on with the characters.
  • Fuller has previously gone on record as not wanting to depict rape on the show so how are they handling Dolarhyde’s sexual deviancies? They will be both partially omitted and partially implied.
  • Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees has composed a piece for the series, most likely to be heard in the finale.

There’s a bit more so be sure to hit the above link, but for now, enjoy the sneak peek!

MASON VERGER RECEIVES A SPECIAL DELIVERY — Captured in Italy by police on Mason Verger’s payroll, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) are delivered to Muskrat Farm to await Mason’s (guest star Joe Anderson) revenge.
