A powerful social commentary wrapped up in a slasher movie set-up, Dutch director Rene Daalder’s 1976 revenge thriller Massacre at Central High is making its Blu-ray debut next year courtesy of Synapse Films, who teased the upcoming release today with a first look at the restoration.

The images come courtesy of Synapse’s Facebook page, where they noted that they are “compressed screengrabs in 720p for a version we were using for restoration reference. Just wanted to have a few shots to show for the fans to see the difference in previous video versions.”

Massacre at Central High stars Andrew Stevens, Robert Carradine, Kimberly Beck, Ray Underwood, and Steve Bond.

In the film, a keen young athletics student moves to a Californian high school and is shocked to discover that his fellow students are being bullied by a rogue gang. He encourages them to take a stand but meets much apathy and ends up having his leg smashed up by the gang. He then decides to get his revenge and begins to wage a violent one-man war against the bullies, disposing of them one by one.
