Bloody Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Poster Unveiled
Metal Gear has never been a series that shied away from brutality. Hell, Rising: Revengeance allowed you to literally hack away at an enemy’s mutilated corpse until there was nothing left even vaguely resembling a human being. So it comes as no surprise that the latest poster for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is literally oozing with blood, accompanied by a tagline which reads, when translated: “Stained in blood, the aftermath of revenge.” Some stores in Japan are even refusing to display it because of its graphic content.
The game has been the subject of controversy due to series creator Hideo Kojima allegedly being dropped by Konami, even having his name removed from the box art. This led to Silent Hills, which he was working on with Guillermo Del Toro, being cancelled. It has also recently come under fire for the revelation that it will contain micro transactions, as if the full price tag wasn’t enough. But then again, they did also charge full price for that glorified demo, Ground Zeroes, so what’d you expect? Despite the game’s troubles, you have to admit that this is one hell of an awesome poster.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1, 2015, for consoles and September 15 for PC.
