Behind-the-Scenes Pics for J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls Feature Liam Neeson
Liam Neeson shows up in a ton of movies these days, but he rarely delves into the world of horror. And the less said about that dreadful remake of The Haunting, the better. But we won’t hold that flick against him, considering the good movies in his filmography grossly outweigh the bad. I feel obligated to say that since Neeson has both extensive hand-to-hand and lightsaber training.
After releasing a staggering number of action thrillers over the past few years, the Taken alum is shifting gears a bit for J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls, based on Patrick Ness’ children’s novel of the same name. And while the flick won’t hit theaters until next year, Fotogramas managed to score some behind-the-scenes photos, including a shot of Liam Neeson in a motion-capture suit. Nifty!
The good folks at Collider recently assembled the following synopsis:
The story revolves around a 13-year-old boy named Conor, who, in an effort to relieve stress brought on by bullying and his mother’s terminal illness, escapes to a fantastical world thanks to a tree monster. Felicity Jones and Toby Kebbell play his parents, Sigourney Weaver fills the role of his grandmother, and in a fantastic bit of casting, Liam Neeson plays the aforementioned monster.
A Monster Calls is presently scheduled to hit theaters on October 14, 2016. While you’re waiting for official stills or a proper trailer, give these behind-the-scenes pics a glance.
