The Final Girls Slashing Towards October Release
Fresh off a premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, The Final Girls (review) has been garnering rave reviews almost across the board, including one from our own Drew Tinnin. We’ve been waiting for a release date, and today some information has come across our desk.
Though a specific date hasn’t yet been announced, The Final Girls will be unleashed this coming October, just in time for Halloween. Read all about the film while we wait for more.
Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”), Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries”), Adam Devine (“Workaholics”), Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games), Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”), and Malin Akerman (Watchmen) all star in the horror-comedy.
Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, The Final Girls is an unconventional comedy about Max, a high school senior, who is mysteriously transported with her friends into a 1980s horror film that starred Max’s mother, a celebrated scream queen.
Trapped inside the movie, Max finds herself reunited with her mom, whom she lost in real life. Together with Max’s friends, they must fend off the camp counselors’ raging hormones, battle a deranged machete-wielding killer, and find a way to escape the movie and make it back home.
