Lightning Strikes for Book of Blood & Diagnosis Death
One film we’ve been keeping tabs on with regard to distribution — Will it go theatrical? Will it be TV & DVD only? — is Clive Barker’s Book of Blood. Today we learned that Lightning Media has acquired US rights to the film and plans to release it theatrically in late 2009/early 2010.
Screen Daily reports that Book of Blood is just one of four films scooped up by Lightning. Two are non-genre, but the other is a “horror spoof” (lord, spare us!) entitled Diagnosis Death, about which we could find very little info other than that it was produced by Jason Stutter and involves two people undergoing a radical treatment for cancer that causes hallucinations. Hilarious, right?
The films are nothing if not diverse, as evidenced by Paul Gardner, the co-president of Lightning Media’s, statement that “we are striving to hit broad audiences. With these titles we think we have accomplished that.”
