There’s a whole lot going on in the Alien universe right now, as Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) is hard at work on developing his untitled sequel, while Ridley Scott is prepping a follow-up to 2012’s pseudo-prequel Prometheus. Cameras will soon roll, so read on for the latest.

Per SciFied, it was revealed in the latest issue of Total Film that Ridley Scott will return to the director’s chair in early 2016, set to begin filming Prometheus 2 this coming January. The sequel, as we previously reported, will not be connected to Blomkamp’s film, being produced by Scott.

We don’t yet know much about the plot of Prometheus 2, but it has been confirmed that both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will be reprising their roles from the first film. The Xenomorphs are not expected to appear in it, though Scott teased there will be alien creatures.

More on this one as we learn it.
