New MGS V Trailer Promises that 28 Years of Waiting Will Be Rewarded

The latest trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is something of a trip down memory lane, showcasing the most memorable elements of the previous games in the series. In addition to reminding us of the downright weird moments – like wearing a tuxedo and wielding a banana for a weapon (only in MGS) – the trailer also promises that “28 Years of Waiting Will Be Rewarded” as first installment, Metal Gear, came out 28 years ago in 1987.

Unsurprisingly, series creator Hideo Kojima, who had a much published fall-out with publisher Konami, receives no mention in the trailer. When the game is released on September 1st, we’ll finally see if the overall quality was affected by the behind-the-scenes drama. Let’s hope this game really was worth the 28-year wait.
