New Line Cinema Eulogizes Wes Craven

We’re still reeling from the unexpected passing of Wes Craven this past Sunday night, and there’s a high likelihood that we will be for quite some time. The only comfort at a time like this is reading all the wonderful tributes hitting the net, and New Line Cinema has just posted their own.

Often referred to as “The House That Freddy Built,” New Line is a company that was quite literally saved by Wes Craven. The 1984 release of A Nightmare on Elm Street put New Line on the map and rescued them from bankruptcy, and so needless to say they owe a whole lot to the late master of horror.

A Nightmare on Elm Street altered New Line’s history,” New Line tweeted out this week. “We’re eternally grateful to Wes Craven & proud to be ‘The House That Freddy Built.'”

You are deeply missed, Wes. And that will forever remain true.

Wes Craven
