Behind-the-Scenes Footage from Toho’s New Godzilla Has Arrived
For those unaware of what’s happening in Japan, Toho is working on a new Godzilla movie under the name New Godzilla. Of course, there’s a good possibility this title will change before the film hits the big screen. Either way, we’re getting the first Japanese Godzilla flick in nearly 12 years.
The flick recently began production in Japan, and from the looks of the footage that has popped up online, the filmmakers were busy filming large groups of people frantically running down the street. It’s one of those classic moments from the Godzilla franchise, where people in a Japanese city flee in terror as the giant green monster lays waste to everything in his path.
Granted, the clips you see below aren’t overly exciting, but it’s proof positive that New Godzilla is officially under way. Hideaki Anno, who also wrote the script, is directing the film alongside Attack on Titan’s Shinji Higuchi. With this amount of impressive talent behind the camera, Godzilla fans shouldn’t worry too much about the next installment of the long-running series. According to Scified, the film could possibly arrive in Japanese theaters on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
The behind-the-scenes videos for New Godzilla are hanging out below.
