A palpable wave of sadness washed over the community earlier this week when it was announced that Pacific Rim 2 had been put on indefinite hold, though it seems those reports were perhaps made in haste. According to Guillermo del Toro, all hope is not yet lost. Read on.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the visionary director shot down rumors of the sequel’s demise, indicating that the battle between monsters and man-powered robots will eventually resume on the big screen.
“We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks,” Guillermo del Toro told EW. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it. It moved further. I may do another movie in the middle.”
“I can tell you this, if I was a billionaire, I would definitely do Hellboy 3, Pacific Rim 2, and At the Mountains of Madness,” he went on to say. “And I would quickly become a millionaire.”
