CBS Developing Moreau Adaptation with a Female Doctor as its Lead

Now this is interesting… “Moreau,” a new adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic The Island of Dr. Moreau, is in the works at CBS as a potential series with a female in the lead role.  And, per Deadline, it’s being written by “Sleepy Hollow” co-creator Phillip Iscove, who left that show at the end of last season, for CBS TV Studios and studio-based Kennedy/Marshall.

In the TV version, the disgraced London physiologist who retreats to an island to work on experiments to create animal-human hybrids is named Katherine. Fiercely intelligent and fearless, Dr. Katherine Moreau expands the boundaries of medicine through bold and revolutionary scientific experimentation and treatments in her privately funded island hospital. Iscove executive produces with Frank Marshall and Robert Zotnowski of the Kennedy/Marshall Co.

We’ll have more as it comes!
