Before King Kong inevitably does battle with Godzilla, fresh new reboot Kong: Skull Island crashes into theaters in 2017. The film, expected to go before cameras this fall, is already loaded with star power, and today another big name has come on board. Read on for the latest!

Per Deadline, national treasure John Goodman has joined the cast of Kong’s return to the big screen. He’ll be playing the role of Randa, a government official who leads an expedition.

Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, and Toby Kebbell also star in the project, which is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. Producing are Legendary’s John Jashni and Thomas Tull as well as Mary Parent.

The film is about a man (Hiddleston) who travels to the mythical island and home of the king of the apes. A team of explorers venture inside what they find to be a treacherous island. The story is said to honor the King Kong lore but in a different time period.
