You gotta love R. L. Stine. In addition to being the person who got children reading again years before a certain series about a boy wizard came along, the guy never seems to catch a break. Having written over 250 books and counting (yeah, okay, there are dark and sad rumors that many of them were ghostwritten, but we’ll let that slip), it’s great to see that the guy is being rewarding for his efforts, with over 400 million copies of his work having been sold worldwide. According to Wikipedia, Goosebumps is the second best-selling book series of all time.

With the long-awaited Goosebumps movie hitting theatres on October 16, 2015, now seems to be the perfect time for another R. L. Stine flick, and we’re getting one, in the form of Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls.

Hitting DVD on 29 September 2015, the film is based on an original idea from Stine and stars Dove Cameron, Katherine McNamara, Ryan McCartan, and Briana Buckmaster. It was directed by Peter DeLuise, who helmed several episodes of Stine’s TV series “The Haunting Hour.”

Synopsis:
Dare to enter a mysterious realm, where the cost of admission just might be your soul. From the dark imagination of renowned author R. L. Stine and starring Dove Cameron (Descendants), Katherine McNamara (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials), Ryan McCarten (“Liv and Maddie”), and Tiffany Espensen (“Kirby Buckets”) comes an original chilling adventure.

When a traveling Hall of Horrors show arrives in the town of Danville, the high school friends can’t wait to get spooked. The monsters, zombies, and ghouls are completely lifelike; and the villainous showman, Dr. Hysteria, and his enchanting assistant, Lilith, really know how to turn up the scares. But when Beth discovers a haunted cabinet backstage that traps the souls of lost teens, it’s up to the gang to stop the mayhem before they are trapped forever.
