Though it’s by no means a horror film, fans of Ridley Scott’s previous outer space adventures like Alien and Prometheus will surely want to check out The Martian, now in theaters. Not your cup of tea? Rather stay at home? Then read on for this weekend’s new VOD offerings!

First up, the holiday season comes early with anthology A Christmas Horror Story, featuring four tales of yuletide terror directed by Grant Harvey, Steven Hoban, and Brett Sullivan and written by James Kee, Sarah Larsen, Doug Taylor, and Pascal Trottier – and presented by William Shatner!

Synopsis:
Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, peace, and goodwill. But for some folks in the small town of Bailey Downs, it turns into something much less festive. When Krampus – the anti-Santa who punishes the naughty children – is summoned by a young boy, everyone’s fight for survival begins.

Also out today, courtesy of Dark Sky Films, is Jason Lei Howden’s horror-comedy Deathgasm (review), which our own Gareth Jones praised as “a consistently hilarious, insanely gory, power chord blast of fun.” The film stars Milo Cawthorne, James Blake, Kimberley Crossman, and Stephen Ure.

Synopsis:
New kid in town Brodie and bad-boy Zakk quickly bond over their mutual admiration of heavy metal. But when these two metal-thrashing losers unwittingly summon malevolent forces, their dreams of stardom may just have to be put on hold.
