Far Cry Goes Stone Age For Next Installment
You gotta respect Ubisoft for taking the Far Cry series in a radically different direction with each instalment, rather than just rehashing the same old thing with a few differences like certain other series (I’m looking at you, Call of Duty, and yes, I’m also looking at Ubisoft’s very own Assassin’s Creed).
Case in point: After teasing its announcement, Ubisoft has confirmed that the next game in the series, titled Far Cry: Primal, will be set in the Stone Age. Yes, the Stone Age, because when you think of first person action games you immediately think of cavemen. Joking aside though, this does look pretty awesome, just take a look at the announcement trailer below.
Looks like it will be another brutal adventure complete with mammoths and sabre-toothed cats. Dinosaurs were supposed to be extinct by that point if you believe that stuff, but c’mon Ubisoft! Add an extra touch of awesomeness by throwing some big-ass dinos in the mix!
This won’t be the first time that the series has taken a more fantastical route. 2013’s Blood Dragon featured a retro-futuristic setting, complete with the most awesome dragons seen in a video game since Skyrim. It also boasted a decent sized open world for a downloadable game, and as Primal appears to be a full price release, expect it to be considerably larger.
If you think about it, cavemen get a pretty bum rap when it comes to video games. I mean, what was the last great caveman game? Or for that matter, what was the last cavemen game to have been released? The tumbleweed rolls by. So if you’re one of those who believes in evolution and feel that your ancestors are not fairly represented in the world of video games, then you’d better get your spears sharpened before Far Cry: Primal launches on February 23, 2016.
