Sorority Row’s Briana Evigan Talks Bousman’s Mother’s Day Remake
Dread Central hit the press junket for Summit Entertainment’s upcoming Sorority Row Sunday in Beverly Hills (and while spoilers are embargoed till the film’s release on September 11), we did talk with Sorority Row lead and horror vet Briana Evigan (who has previously appeared in the genre films S. Darko and House of the Damned, among others) regarding her upcoming role in filmmaker Darren Lynn (Repo! The Genetic Opera) Bousman’s Mother’s Day, which is slated for a 2010 release and is currently in pre-production.
Engaging and commanding (whose eyes possess a steely yet soft reserve), Evigan (who essays the character of ‘Cassidy’ in director Stewart Hendler’s Sorority Row) told us of her role as ‘Annette’ in Mother’s Day (a remake of the 1980 slasher): “I can tell you that it’s really, really sick, but what I liked about it is that it’s a concept way too close to home, about family and how they are more important than anything and how you’d do absolutely anything for them, and that’s the way my family is. But god, I would pray that nothing like in the script (actually) happened, because we take care of each other.”
As for her position in the cast, which includes Deborah (“True Blood”) Ann Woll, Alexa (Repo! The Genetic Opera) Vega, and Jaime (2009’s My Bloody Valentine) King, the 22-year-old Evigan – sporting a matching tattoo with Sorority Row co-star Rumer Willis that she recently received in London – told us that: “I’m not a member of the family (in Mother’s Day). I’m one of the hostages, so I get to be really bad-ass – twenty times more so than in Sorority Row, and I’m pretty much the tough, stone-walled (woman) who everyone is intimidated by. (She’s) super hot and sexy but not in the slutty way. We are trying to find that fine line, so that we don’t get into that category. I am getting a tattoo on my back (for the role). She’s ready to kill everybody and anybody that she needs to kill!”
