Some exciting news for comic fans landed in our inbox as it was just announced that Brian Azzarello’s latest, American Monster, will be released in January 2016 by AfterShock Comics. It’s illustrated by Juan Doe.

Azzarello has a lot on his plate these days as his 100 Bullets series was recently picked up by New Line, and he also just partnered with Frank Miller for The Dark Knight series.

Launched in April 2015, AfterShock Comics is a comic book company that combines the creative edge of an independent comic book publisher with the strengths and experience of a traditional powerhouse; its Editor-in-Chief is Mike Marts.

Here’s the synopsis for American Monster and its cover art:

Synopsis:
War changes people. The person who leaves is never the person who returns. Theo Montclare is such a person. Horribly scarred and disfigured during his tour of duty, Theo returns to the small Northwestern town that was once his home a changed man, transformed emotionally and physically, both in appearance and in perception. But is he a returning hero or a modern day Frankenstein?
