This year has been dominated by news about Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot, which will haunt theaters next July. But it’s not the only movie about a team of bumbling ghost hunters in our near future, as the upcoming comedy Ghost Team is cut from a similar cloth. Read on.

Deadline reports that the indie comedy will start production in New York this week, with filming taking place in Manhattan, Long Island, and Brooklyn. Justin Long (Tusk), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), and David Krumholtz (“Numbers”) will star alongside Melonie Diaz, Paul W. Downs, Tom Schiller, and Amy Sedaris.

The film, being directed by Oliver Irving (How to Be), is about a team of ghost hunters who get more than they bargained for when they embark on their own paranormal investigation.

The makers of Ghost Team say it will be the first feature to use the new Steadicam Tango, an innovation by cinematographer Garrett Brown on his Steadicam invention.

Peter Warren wrote the script, and Tandem Pictures’ Julie Christeas and Schuyler Weiss are producing with Mott Street Pictures’ Alex Sagalchik and Irving. Preferred Content’s Kevin Iwashinia is exec producing, and he’ll be the U.S. sales agent for the film.
