Knott’s Halloween Haunt Trades Zombieland for The Stepfather
Although the locals still call it “Knott’s Scary Farm”, the official name for Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Jekyll and Hyde transformation from family funzone by day to adult scarezone by night has become known as “Halloween Haunt”, where your worst nightmares come to life… Unfortunately, however, one such nightmare — running zombies — apparently won’t be coming to fruition.
According to the Creepy LA Halloween Blog, Sony Pictures has pulled the planned “Zombieland” scarezone from Halloween Haunt. Instead, a scarezone for Sony’s upcoming remake of “The Stepfather” will take its place by the GhostRider roller coaster. A bummer indeed, but since just about everyone has an evil stepparent in their past or present nowadays, this might not be such a bad idea after all!
From the Knott’s Halloween Haunt website: Not for the weak at heart, Knott’s Scary Farm is an extreme take on all of the senses. The lighting, fog, and music throughout the entire park make it incredibly hard to focus on what lurks in the shadows. To find out what is lurking in the shadows is for only the brave at heart. The mazes and attractions leave no room to run. You are set bait, put right into the action. Visiting the Haunt is like participating in a first-rate horror film, except you are not quite convinced that it is only a movie – that somehow the actors are the characters and that you are caught right in the middle of it. Knott’s Scary Farm is the most fun you will have being scared.
Here are a few of the other new attractions this year:
Insanity reigns supreme in this maniacal nightmare prison. The inmates are out of their cells and their minds! The bars keep the inmates inside…and the authorities out! Every turn takes you deeper into the danger. There is no escape from Lockdown!
Step back in time and into the fog filled streets of London. The villains of the night are terrorizing the townsfolk! Step lively or you’ll fall victim to Jack the Ripper’s blade or Dr. Jekyll’s twisted experiments. Will you make it out in one piece…or in pieces?
Sacrificial blood rains down from the skies. The screams of La Llorona, the Weeping Woman, echo all around as the creatures of the night crawl from their decrepit crypts. Venture into the forbidden jungle of El Chupacabra and the blood soaked lair of primordial demons. “Dia de los Muertos”, the Day of the Dead, has arrived.
Step right up! Don’t be shy! Welcome to the Big Top of the Bizarre! Uncle Bob is here to demonstrate his devious delights! Inside you’ll find a villainous variety of vaudevillian visages to vex even the most valiant voyeurs! Welcome to the greatest slaughter on earth!
The event runs September 24-27 and 30, and October 1-4, 7-11, 14-18, and 21-25, and 28-31. Tickets are $53.99 at the gate and, depending on the date, range from $31.99 to $49.99 in advance. Be sure the click the above link for more info.
