Remember Polaroids? Anyone? You know those things that Outkast rapped about in “Hey Ya?” You don’t remember that either? Christ, I’m old. In any event Deadline is reporting that Dimension Films is optioning the rights to the short horror film Polaroid, which was written and directed by Lars Klevberg.

Klevberg is also attached to direct the feature version, which will go out to writers to adapt. Several offers came in, but an exclusive negotiation with Dimension started on Friday afternoon.

Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Jake Wagner will produce at Benderspink with Roy Lee at Vertigo and Petter Løkke and John Hagen at El Dorado Films, which produced the short with Klevberg in Norway. Scott Stoops brought the film in to Benderspink, and it’s being likened to a potential franchise like The Ring.
