First Look at Sci-Fi Creature Feature Star Warfare Rangers and the Cyborg Witch of Endor
Longtime director Albert Pyun is battling some health issues, but that’s not stopping him from embarking on a new project. He’s just kicked off production in Las Vegas of Star Warfare Rangers and the Cyborg Witch of Endor, a horror-tinged sci-fi space opera he likens to “Star Wars crossed with Blackhawk Down” but with the addition of “some very nasty creatures.”
The film stars Ellie Church (pictured below), Morgan Weisser, Brad Thornton, Mayling Ng, Paul Gunn, Ashley Campbell, Glenn Maynard, and Jax Scott and introduces 18-year-old actress Cat Cakmis as Leah C6.
Pyun (who received The Inspiration Award from this past weekend’s Yellow Fever Independent Film Festival) tells us, “Michael Su is shooting it and producing it with Cynthia [Curnan, who co-wrote the script with Pyun] and Tony Riparetti. Ellie Church, a rising horror scream queen in films like Headless and Mania, plays the Empress of the Imperial Empire. Glenn Maynard plays the main villain, Kindo-Ker; and he has two creature assassins, Maanu-Agu (Fulvia Santoni) and Anak Mindo. All three transform into creatures of pure darkness at the end in an attempt to kill Leah C6 (Cat Cakmis). The film, stylistically, is like Aliens in terms of its military action.”
He continues, “I’m shooting now in Las Vegas, and it’s made possible by a facility known as Adventure Combat Ops, a Vegas attraction about joining Special Ops soldiers to kill zombies. They have a small neighborhood built into their facility and very kindly are letting me shoot there while providing military expertise from their ex-military Special Ops soldiers.” The plan is to finish up in Vegas in December and then move to China for the final part of the shoot.
Synopsis:
Elite galactic Special Ops soldiers are gathered for a daring mission to rescue a cyborg teenager named Leah C6, who has information on an evil rebel insurgency which threatens to destroy the Imperial Empire. Leah C6 is trapped on the planet Endor and hunted by rebel insurgents who are part of a group of religious fanatics who believe in a dark mystic power.
