World War Z 2 Moving Forward with New Writer
A total of five credited writers had a hand in World War Z‘s troubled production, and so it only makes sense that the upcoming sequel is similarly changing hands. Scheduled for release in the summer of 2017, World War Z 2 is moving forward, and this week brings the latest update.
THR reports that Dennis Kelly, creator of British show “Utopia,” has been enlisted to pen a new draft of the sequel’s screenplay, picking up an earlier draft by Steven Knight (Burnt). Despite recent rumors, it’s looking like Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage) is still on board to direct.
World War Z 2 is scheduled for release on June 9, 2017. Brad Pitt, in addition to reprising his role as Gerry Lane, is producing alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ian Bryce, and Skydance’s David Ellison. Skydance Productions is co-producing and co-financing the film.
We’ll of course report more on this one as we learn it.
