Rest in Peace: Gunnar Hansen

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we bring you some sad news this weekend as word has come that the iconic Gunnar Hansen, “Leatherface” from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, has passed away at the all too young age of 68.  The cause of death was pancreatic cancer, and surviving Hansen is his partner of 13 years, Betty Tower.

Per MSN, he died on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at his home in Maine, according to his agent. Hansen was born March 4, 1947, in Reykjavik, Iceland, and moved to the U.S. at age 5. He appeared in dozens of films but will always be remembered as the chainsaw-wielding villain in Tobe Hooper’s classic.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to remember Gunnar and express our condolences to his friends and family members.
