We haven’t been especially excited about the 30 Days of Night DTV sequel, 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, but now that some casting news is trickling out, we admit to being at least a bit more curious. Read on for more details.

Bloody Disgusting learned that the following key players have signed on to the project, which is being helmed by Ben Ketai (who also directed and co-wrote the “30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust” TV series) and started filming this week:

Rhys Coiro (“Entourage”, “24”) takes on one of the lead roles, and Mia Kirshner (De Palma’s The Black Dahlia, “24”) plays the lead vampire villain “Lilith”. Also starring are Harold Perrineau (“Lost”, “Oz”), Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway, “Lost”), and genre vet Diora Baird (Night of the Demons, Stan Helsing). Stunt woman/actress Monique Ganderton (The Cabin in the Woods) rounds out the cast.

It was too hard to pick just one of these lovely ladies to highlight for the article, so here’s a look at Mia, Kiele, and Diora (l-r) together.

Dark Days will tell the story of Stella Olemaun (Melissa George’s character from the first film, who is being recast) as she heads to Los Angeles after surviving the vampire attack in Barrow, Alaska. She intentionally attracts the attention of the local vampire population in order to avenge the death of her husband, Eben, during the Barrow incident.

That’s it for now. More as it comes!
