Chilean Horror Film Downhill Nabs Festival Award
We first told you about Chilean director Patricio Valladares’ Downhill just about a year ago, which was described to us as Cliffhanger meets Paranormal Activity. Needless to say, our interest was piqued, and today brings an update about the project. So read on for the latest.
Per Screen Daily, the survival thriller screened at the Ventana Sur Film Market last week, and in addition to scooping up a Blood Window Award, it also grabbed the interest of the Morbido Film Festival’s director Pablo Guisa Koestinger. He has come on board as an associate producer.
Barry Keating co-wrote the screenplay with Valladares. Natalie Burn, Bruce Draper, Ariel Levy, Ignacia Allamand, Luke Massy, and Matias Lopez star.
Chile’s Too Much Films produced Downhill, and France’s WTFilms handles international sales.
Synopsis:
After his best friend dies in a racing accident, biking star Joe agrees to go back on the wheels for an exhibition in Chile. On a test run with his girlfriend, Stephanie, they stumble upon a badly injured man dying from a mysterious virus. That’s the start of a very bad day for them as they become the target of relentless killers ready to do anything to keep their secret from going out of the mountains.
