Millions of Spiders Invade Memphis Neighborhood in The Gasp Menagerie
Giving us a new entry in the “Nature Gone Amok” wing of the Menagerie, a local station reports that a neighborhood in the Memphis, Tennessee, area has been overrun by up to millions of small spiders. As images show, lawns are covered in webbing as the tiny spiders emerge from the grass in vast numbers.
Residents aren’t relaxed just because of the size, as the spiders have completely infested their homes. One resident says they’ve covered his walls and floors, and that his family spent over an hour killing them with no respite in sight.
A curator from the Memphis Zoo is nonplussed, however. He says, “The presence of these spiders tells us that all is well with nature at that location.” It’s clear he doesn’t live in the neighborhood, which residents describe as “like a horror movie.”
I’m of the thinking that spiders eat the bugs we don’t like, but I don’t think I’d want to live in a home literally crawling with them floor to ceiling. What do you think? Natural migration? Sign of the apocalypse? Someone lost a bet with a Leprechaun?
