Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Wraps Filming
If, like me, you never liked the live-action Resident Evil films but felt that, as a fan of the games, you had a moral obligation to watch them, then you’re probably also feeling relieved that there’s only one left. Only one more of the damn things to sit through.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (the name seems to indicate that even they’ve had enough) has now wrapped production, as confirmed by star Milla Jovovich on her Instagram account.
Maybe I’m being overly harsh on the films, but they just weren’t for me. I never felt that they captured the spirit or essence of the games. But I never finished the original game on hard mode, so what do I know? Maybe somewhere in the world there’s a diehard fan of the films who’s heartbroken that there won’t be any more.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is directed by Paul WS Anderson and stars series regulars Milla Jovovich, Iain Glen, Ali Larter, and Shawn Roberts in addition to newcomers Lee Joon-gi, Rola, and Ruby Rose. It will be released on January 27, 2017.
Synopsis:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington, D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
In a race against time, Alice will join forces with old friends and an unlikely ally in an action-packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
