Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman Face Annihilation
We learned last year that Alex Garland’s (Ex Machina) next is sci-fi movie Annihilation, and as we reported back in May, Academy Award winner Natalie Portman is attached to star. Today brings the latest casting news, so if this one is on your radar, read on for the exciting update.
Per The Wrap, Creed star Tessa Thompson (pictured below) is being eyed to join Portman in Paramount’s sci-fi flick, and Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez has also come on board. Paramount has not yet commented directly on the scoop nor have representatives for Thompson.
Scott Rudin is producing the adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s novel, which follows a group of women who take on a dangerous mission where the laws of nature don’t apply. The group consists of an anthropologist, a surveyor, a psychologist who serves as the group’s de facto leader, and a biologist who serves as the narrator.
