Australian Monster Flick Red Billabong Releases New Stills
Writer/director Luke Sparke’s Australian creature feature Red Billabong looks fantastic, but it appears we’re still several months away from a release date. According to Cinema Australia, the promotional campaign should begin rolling out very soon. In the meantime, Sparke has given the world a few intriguing stills to gnaw on until the flick is finally available for mass consumption.
So what’s the holdup? Sparke told the website that he and his team are busy bringing the creature to life through the use of CGI. Instead of rushing through the process, they’re taking their time.
“I can’t recall another Aussie film integrating a fully CGI character into a film like this. We need to be sure it’s working – and it is. We’re plugging away at the visual effects. These things take time, but doing something never done before in Australian cinema takes even longer,” he explained.
If you’ve never heard of Red Billabong, then you’ll need this synopsis:
In the Australian Outback, two brothers discover old secrets and family lies. As their friends start to go missing, they fear they are being stalked by someone or something from their worst nightmares. But is it just… A story? A legend? A hoax? Or is it real?
