Showtime has thus far only officially confirmed the presence of Kyle MacLachlan in its upcoming continuation of “Twin Peaks,” but word has come that Laura Dern, who has previously worked with him on a few occasions and series co-creator David Lynch numerous times, is about to do so again… and the rumors surrounding her role have us giddy with anticipation!

Per TVLine, Dern could be playing Diane, the not-yet-seen secretary on whom MacLachlan’s special Agent Dale Cooper leaned so heavily during the series’ original run.  Even if that’s not the case, we can’t wait to see her re-team with Kyle and David as a follow-up to their collaboration on Blue Velvet in 1988. Dern also appeared in Lynch’s Wild at Heart in 1990 and, more recently, in 2006’s Inland Empire.

Along with MacLachlan and Dern, the cast is said to include returnees Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn plus new additions Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty, and Amanda Seyfried.
