The folks at Elftree Media recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming short film Thoughtform, which will explore the impossibly creepy mystery surrounding the death of Texas resident Olivia Mabel. If you’re the sort of person who loves true stories that are way spookier than any work of fiction, then you’ve certainly come to the right place.

On February 27, 1994, in Celina, Texas, grieving mother Olivia Mabel was found dead in her home. But here’s the strange part: Olivia was found sitting upright in her rocking chair in front of a makeshift shrine devoted to her deceased son. Clutched in her hands was a stick-figure doll that resembled her son, who tragically died at the age of 7. You can read more about Mabel’s death at this website.

The filmmaker explained why they want to explore this mystery:

The film we intend to make is called Thoughtform, a supernatural horror piece based on the unsolved mystery of Olivia Mabel. After discussing it over several podcasts, we decided we needed to tell this story and expand on the urban legends that surround the mysterious case. We got together and fleshed out a script based on what we felt the real Olivia Mabel would have experienced.

Elftree Media hopes to raise $10,000 over the next month or so for Thoughtform, so kick up some extra cash in their general direction if you have some lying around. For more information about the project, check out the pitch video and the intriguing teaser embedded below.
