Here at Dread Central we have a pretty large talent pool to draw from, and we’re always pleased and proud to report on the creative efforts of the members of our staff. Along those lines, our Literary Editor, Morgan Elektra, and her husband, Dean Sasser, have formed their own production company, Trickster Moon Productions, and are moving into pre-production on their pioneer project, a short film entitled “Blood & Dust”.

Trickster Moon Announces Its First Short Film Production: Blood & Dust

“Blood & Dust” will be directed by Sasser based on a script Morgan adapted from one of her short stories. Much like everything else they do, the couple are taking a unique approach to the great and important task of raising funds to make their movie. They want YOU to be a part of the production — from beginning to end — and are asking for donations of just $1.00 to help them achieve their $20,000 shooting budget. (Of course, more is welcome, but they are only asking for $1.00 from any one contributor.)

What do you get for your money? Once you’ve helped them reach their goal, Morgan and Dean would like you, and everyone else you bring to the table, to stay with them … to walk through every step of the production. Watch video of their location scouting expeditions and tell them your thoughts and opinions; see casting sessions and participate in polls on which actors you think do the best job; and even assist them in decisions regarding the purchase of equipment, seeing where every single dollar goes. They will be providing exclusive web content, blogs, behind-the-scenes video, and narrative podcasts that expand the world of the film (and more, which we can’t mention just yet). Be as much a part of the filmmaking experience as you want!

They already have some of their crew lined up. Kathe Sweeney has signed on as part of the production team, and “Monster” Mark Kosobucki (whose credits include Dead@17 and Lovecraft’s Pillow ) is on board for FX. But they’re certainly on the lookout for more. If you know any actors or crew in the area (upstate New York), let them know.

Be sure to check out the official Trickster Moon site for more details, and help us wish Morgan and Dean a bon voyage as they set sail on their maiden voyage in the tumultuous sea known as indie filmmaking!
