Exclusive: Pieces Blu-ray Release to Feature Brand New Alternate Score; Theater Dates Revealed!
“And other surprises.” So reads the bottom of the press release for Grindhouse Releasing’s upcoming Blu-ray edition of Pieces, aka our most highly anticipated Blu-ray release of the year. Finally we’ve uncovered just what one of those surprises will be!
According to Grindhouse’s David Szulkin, the Pieces Blu-ray will feature a brand new alternate score from Umberto. Matt Hill of Umberto said the following regarding his alternate Pieces score:
“I was originally commissioned to write and perform it for the Glasgow Film Festival in 2012. Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai was at the performance and asked to put a record of it out on their Rock Action label. The record was called Night Has a Thousand Screams. It’s just selections from the entire score though. The next year I did a performance of it at the Egyptian Theatre for Beyond Fest, and last year I performed it at MondoCon in Austin, Texas. So this will be the first time it’s available to listen to in its entirety with the film for people who couldn’t attend any of the three performances.”
