Gold Circle’s Remake of Murk Getting a Rewrite
Ah, remakes. So much tinkering. Such little interest in preserving what made the original films they’re based upon good in the first place. Sadly that’s usually the situation, but we can always hope for the best, right?
Bloody-Disgusting got word today that Gold Circle’s remake of the Danish thriller Murk, or Mørke for you purists out there, entitled Merciless will be getting itself some good old fashioned rewrites courtesy of Ed Dougherty (Blackout).
The film, directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel (the team who brought us the ultra disturbing indie effort Deadgirl), tells the tale of Jacob who, after his brain-injured sister dies from supposedly slitting her wrists on her wedding night, follows the trail of her mysterious fiance. Jacob soon finds that this man has a routine of killing crippled brides-to-be, and therefore he must face his sister’s death and risk his own life to make sure the self-proclaimed “Angel of Death” does not strike again.
Word has it Dougherty will be incorporating a “high concept cutting edge science angle” into the mix. We shall see. In the interim dig on the trailer for the original film below.
