Prometheus was an odd film with an extreme identity crisis. “It’s not a prequel to Alien, but it has the DNA of the Alien franchise.” Remember that? The whole thing still gives us a bit of a headache.

In any event, our friends over at AVP Galaxy on Twitter just unveiled the Xenomorph design from when Prometheus was an Alien prequel. Following along? Good. Now hush, and check out a cool monster image.

Alien Prometheus

Concept art from when Prometheus was an Alien prequel. We’re looking forward to seeing it back in Alien: Covenant!

In Ridley Scott‘s big-budget blockbuster film Alien: Covenant, Michael Fassbender is reprising his role from Prometheus, and he’ll be joined by Katherine Waterston as the series’ new female lead and possibly Danny McBride. The director’s company, Scott Free, is producing the tentpole for 20th Century Fox.

Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded, but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film is set for release on October 6, 2017.
