We’re being selective with regard to the various new pilots that we’re covering this season, and one that landed on our radar is The CW’s “Transylvania,” which centers on a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from NYC to Transylvania.  Since it features the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history, we thought you guys would want to know about it also, and today we have the first bit of casting news for the show.

Per Deadline, Aussie actress Laura Brent (pictured; The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) has been cast as the female lead.

Written by Hugh Sterbakov (“Robot Chicken”) and directed by Jason Ensler (“Franklin & Bash”), “Transylvania” is set in 1880.  While in Transylvania, Victoria (Brent) teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard detective (expect casting news for that character shortly).

Sterbakov executive produces with Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Josh Applebaum, and Scott Rosenberg for CBS Television Studios and Midnight Radio.
