Scream Queens Actress Brianne Howey Joins The Exorcist TV Series
Rather than getting a big screen remake, The Exorcist is instead headed to the small screen, and it’s being described as a modern reinvention of the horror classic. Filming on the Fox pilot, being directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), is expected to begin soon, and we’ve got the first casting news today.
Deadline reports that “Scream Queens” star Brianne Howey has signed on for a series regular role in “The Exorcist,” playing a character named Charlotte. A former ballet dancer, and once the golden child, Charlotte has not been the same since her terrible accident. Now depressed and anti-social, she’s closed off and guarded. So much so that her mother has begun to believe she might be influenced by a demon, though the thought would make Charlotte laugh.
Written by Jeremy Slater, “The Exorcist” is set to be a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.
Expect more casting news real soon.
