Billy Crudup Finalizing Negotiations for Alien: Covenant
Billy Crudup doesn’t visit the horror genre very frequently (although he’s appeared in numerous thrillers, including last year’s The Stanford Prison Experiment) so we’re pretty excited by this latest report from Deadline, which has him in “advanced negotiations for a key part” in Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien: Covenant. We’ll keep you posted in case something more concrete comes our way.
If signed, Crudup (pictured below) would join Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, and the recently announced Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez on the project, which begins production next month in Australia.
Specific plot details for the new film, which will be a sequel to Prometheus that also serves as a prequel to the original Alien, are being closely guarded; but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant is set for release on October 6, 2017.
