default-featured-image

With Sundance 2010 in full swing, massive bidding wars have begun on some of the festival’s hot available prospects. One film garnering lots of attention is Rodrigo Cortes’ claustrophobic thriller Buried.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Lionsgate on Sunday pulled off the first pickup at Sundance, acquiring North American rights to the Ryan Reynolds-toplined man-in-a-coffin thriller Buried for slightly less than $4 million.

Buried stars Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq who awakens to find that he has been buried alive inside of a coffin. Armed with only a lighter and a cell phone, it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap before he runs out of air.
