Legion Director Scott Stewart Talks Priest
Fresh off of promoting the hell out of his latest film Legion, which came in a hearty second at the box office this weekend, taking in about $18.2 million, director Scott Stewart took a bit of time to talk about his next film, a little slice of vampire fun called Priest.
Priest reunites Stewart with Legion star Paul Bettany, and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog the director had this to say regarding the film’s storyline, “It takes place a generation after the war, a hundreds-year war between man and vampire, and the characters of the priests are like Jedi Knights that helped turn the tide. My focus is how now the vampire is vanquished, and society has moved on from you. You’re not the hero anymore, and people look at you like a freak. They won’t talk to you. And so we look at what happens after that if you’re called into service again. You end up questioning why you made those sacrifices to begin with.”
As for what types of vampires we can expect from the flick, Stewart assures fans that these won’t be sparkling teenagers! We’re getting monsters, albeit digital ones.
“These vampires are very feral and very violent. They are not human. They don’t talk English. They are not people at all, they’re digital characters. We’ve created a whole lore about them.”
