SXSW 2016 Nabs Carles Torrens’ Pet
The upcoming SXSW Film Festival will be home to the premiere of Carles Torrens’ new film Pet, and right now we have a pair of stills and a trailer to go along with the news! Dig ’em!
According to Deadline the film is directed and produced by Spanish filmmaker Carles Torrens (Apartment 143) and written by Jeremy Slater (Fox’s upcoming The Exorcist; The Lazarus Effect and Fantastic Four). The Revolver Picture Company in association with Magic Lantern feature stars Dominic Monaghan (The Lord Of The Rings, “Lost”) and Ksenia Solo (Black Swan, Gone Girl).
There are echoes of William Mastrosimone’s Extremities in the plot, which is described as “a psychological thriller that deals with the themes of identity, loneliness, selflessness and what it means to truly possess another. It’s told through the prism of two isolated people, Seth and Holly, seemingly different yet more similar than they even knew. Pet is at its heart a dark love story which examines how much one is willing to sacrifice in the name of love.”
To which the director adds this comment (perhaps by way of warning): “Ours is a film devoid of a moral stance, ruthless and unapologetic, which nonetheless aims to deliver a fun rollercoaster ride full of thrills, chills, and even a few chuckles.”
