The Phoenix Incident Opens Wider In April
After a successful premiere via Fathom Events, the latest UFO flick, The Phoenix Incident, will be opening a bit wider this April. Read on for details.
From the Press Release:
On the heels of a successful Fathom Events debut, Concourse Media and PCB Productions announce the expanded U.S. release of The Phoenix Incident, a sci-fi thriller based on the unsolved mystery of the largest UFO incident in North America – the Phoenix Lights. The film will open in 10 markets as part of its limited U.S. release and will be available on iTunes and VOD.
The Phoenix Incident is the debut feature film of first-time writer-director Keith Arem, best known for his talent direction on AAA gaming franchises including Call of Duty and Saints Row. The film combines eyewitness testimony and actual events to reconstruct what might have happened on the night of March 13, 1997.
The film will open on April 8 in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Seattle and Kansas City. For a list of theater locations and VOD options visit www.phoenixincident.com.
“Audience and media reaction to The Phoenix Incident has exceeded our expectations,” said Keith Arem, Director of The Phoenix Incident. “As a first-time filmmaker, I had no idea what to expect but the response we received from our 25-stage viral campaign and Fathom premiere has shown us that our alternative approach worked.”
This immersive “transmedia”-style film merges linear filmmaking with progressive interactive components that enhance the overall consumer experience in unprecedented ways – breaking down the fourth wall. Some of these initiatives include an elaborate online viral marketing campaign; a first-of-its-kind, interactive motion picture app; and innovative partnerships with new digital partners like Shazam, Fandango, Steam and LootCrate.
“This film proves that there is a successful alternative to traditional film distribution,” said James Andrew Felts, Managing Partner of Concourse Media. “From an intense marketing experience to key collaborations with leading-edge digital partners, The Phoenix Incident has flipped the traditional model and offered a framework for independent films moving forward.”
The film stars gaming sensations Troy Baker (Last of Us, BioShock Infinite), Yuri Lowenthal (Prince of Persia, Sunset Overdrive), Travis Willingham (Evolve, Critical Role) and Liam O’Brien (World of Warcraft, League of Legends).
Producers include Keith Arem, Adam Lawson, Ash Sarohia and Fahad H. Enany alongside executive producers James Andrew Felts and Matthew Shreder of Concourse Media.
Inspired by true events, The Phoenix Incident is based on the largest UFO sighting in North America known as the Phoenix Lights. Blurring the line between fiction and reality, the fact-based, sci-fi thriller revolves around a military conspiracy and the controversial missing person’s case surrounding the infamous 1997 event.
