SXSW 2016: Phantasm 4K Images from Film and Event
One of the highlights of this year’s SXSW Film Festival is without question the screening of the new 4K restoration of Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm, which came to be with the help of J.J. Abrams. On tap right now we have a couple of images from the event along with some truly beautiful stills from the transfer.
Phantasm: Remastered celebrated its SXSW premiere screening on Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Stateside theatre in Austin, TX. First released in 1979, the film underwent a meticulous 4K restoration from the original 35 mm camera negative by Bad Robot Productions.
J.J. Abrams and director/writer Don Coscarelli introduced the film to the festival audience eagerly awaiting to see the film restored to the best technological condition as possible.
