Buried Writer Set for Intrusion

Remember when Ryan Reynolds was Buried and fighting for air? Writer Chris Sparling does, and according to Variety he’s planning on bringing a new spin on the home invasion subgenre with Intrusion.

Good Universe has picked up rights to Sparling’s thriller spec script and is fast-tracking development.

Intrusion, which is out to directors, centers on a woman who moves with her husband to a small town in Maine after a cancer scare and becomes the victim of a strange home invasion. She begins to uncover a darkness underneath her seemingly idyllic new life.

Alexandra Milchan (The Wolf of Wall Street), Russell Hollander (Valentine’s Day), Josh Weinstock (Nightingale), and Sparling are attached to produce. Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will serve as executive producers.

We chat about his long history in cinema; about how he started working with Romero to some insights into Tales from the Darkside. And we discuss his latest work, the novel Residue: Paramentals Rising, which is a sequel to the Netflix show. After learning about his horror history--including a memorable viewing of Night of the Living Dead--we find out why The Haunting terrified him as a twelve year old.
