O’Dea Joins Women’s Studies
Nothing better than a chick-centered horror movie, am I right? Girls running around in negligees being pursued by a masked maniac in between long, lingering showers. Do ya feel me?
Women’s Studies is nothing like that at all.
Despite having one of the most un-horror sounding titles in recent memory, Women’s Stuides is, indeed, a horror film, and a pretty damn interesting sounding one at that. The story is set in a women’s academy where a feminist resides, bent on the destruction of all men. Our main character, Mary, takes it upon herself to either help or bring to an end the madwoman; the press release wasn’t very specific.
In a casting coup, the production announced today that Judith O’Dea, aka Barbara from the original Night of the Living Dead and a very classy lady all around, has been cast as Mary’s mentor in the film, Senator Gayle Hamlin. Her character will guide Mary to make the right choices to help change the world around them, as well as stopping the aforementioned man-hating feminist.
Like I said, the premise is interesting and seems to be played with a very straight face, so I’m curious to see how it comes out. Shooting is set to start up in July with a release planned for sometime in 2008. Keep an eye on the official Women’s Studies site for more updates soon!
