Dracula’s voyage from Transylvania to London has always been glossed over by the cinema. We all know a bloodbath took place on the ship carrying him, his coffin, and of course his native soil, but we never actually ever got to see what happened for more than a couple of minutes. With The Last Voyage of the Demeter gearing up for production, a certain director has been eying the promising property.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Stefan Ruzowitzky, the Austrian director behind Oscar-winning foreign film The Counterfeiters, is in negotiations to helm this latest carnage-filled telling of the Count’s exploits for Phoenix Pictures.

The script, written by Season of the Witch‘s Bragi Schut over a decade ago, places the ship’s voyage center stage in a tale that (much like the original Alien) will illustrate for viewers what happens when a not-so-human passenger slaughters its transporters one-by-one.
