Watch Twilight Saga: New Moon VOD Exclusives on Comcast and DirecTV
What with all the excitement about the release of the new trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, you might have forgotten that New Moon is poised to bow on DVD and Blu-ray at 12:01 AM on Saturday, March 20th. But instead of heading out to your neighborhood video retailer, both Comcast and DirecTV have some motivation for you to watch the flick via their VOD channels in the form of exclusive bonus material including director commentary, making-of, theatrical clips, and assorted documentaries.
Home Media Magazine broke it down for us as follows:
The director’s commentary exclusive to Comcast features 13 minutes of Chris Weitz discussing a number of favorite New Moon scenes, including Bella’s birthday party, Bella’s cliff dive, Bella rescuing Edward in Italy, Bella’s first encounter with the Volturi, and the Bella/Jacob rain scene below. A separate cable industry exclusive includes the documentary “Life After Twilight”, which takes a look at how the actors’ lives have changed following the phenomenal success of the first movie in the franchise.

DirecTV’s VOD subscribers [will] have free access to two special features, including “The Subtle Details”, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at New Moon’s production design, costuming, and related material, and “Chris Weitz Takes the Helm”, documenting the transition from Catherine Hardwicke, director of Twilight, to New Moon director Chris Weitz and his vision of the future of the series.
As of now we haven’t been able to dig up which other cable/satellite providers might be offering similar supplemental features, but as we learn more, we’ll be sure to pass it on.
If you’re not among Comcast or DirecTV subscribers, then you might decide to brave the crowds at one of the many “release parties” across the country. Both are packed with bonus features including an audio commentary with director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert; a six-part behind-the-scenes documentary; band rehearsal footage with Muse; music videos; and more.
