There are some mighty fine movies coming out of Russia these days. The latest is Attraction (original title: Притяжение), from 9th Company and Stalingrad director Fedor Bondarchuk, which has big-ass alien spaceships descending on the country.

Due for release in Russia on January 27, the first thing that came to my mind when watching the trailer was “man, this movie’s gonna be better than Independence Day: Resurgence. Bondarchuk is basically the go-to guy for big budget Russian movies, with Attraction upping the ante big time by being set for release in IMAX. This is going to be amazing on the big screen.

Attraction, from Art Pictures Studio and Vodorod Studio, is directed by Fedor Bondarchuk and produced by Bondarchuk, Dmitry Rudovskiy, Mikhail Vrubel and Alexander Andryuschenko. The film features an all-star Russian cast includingAlexander Petrov, Irina Starshenbaum, Rinal Mukhametov and Oleg Menshikov.

Synopsis:
An unidentified falling object from outer space changes our view of humanity and life beyond Earth. As local residents of a Moscow residential district gather to see the fallen object, it forces mankind to question existing civilization and the potential for learning more.
