Upcoming Period Piece Will Expose the Horrors of Salem Village
After the success of The Witch earlier this year, we were pretty sure we’d be seeing more witch-themed period pieces in the near future, and another one is indeed headed our way very soon. It’s titled Salem Village (formerly Salem) and a director has just been found. Read on for everything you need to know!
As reported by The Tracking Board, Yuval Adler (Bethlehem) has been tapped to direct Salem Village for STX Entertainment, which was penned by Jeff Richard and Mark Bianculli. Marc Schmuger will produce the horror film under his Global Produce banner.
Set fifteen years after the Salem witch trials, the story is centered on a young woman who begins to show signs of possession. Desperate for the truth, the town’s elders put their faith into a man of science to uncover what is truly happening in Salem and put an end to the terrifying events plaguing the town.
The site also notes that producers are eyeing a Michael Shannon-type for the role of the doctor.
